Satin dress

A satin dress has a luxurious, elegant, feminine feel to it.  The key to wearing a satin dress is that it fits well and is forgiving.

When you wear a satin dress it is important to wear the right lingerie – avoid lacy lingerie or lingerie with many seams as they will be very visible under a satin dress.  It is important that you spend time finding the right seamless underwear to wear with a satin dress.

You will know when a satin dress fits you well as it will not cling or rumple when you sit.  Spend as much as you can afford on a satin dress – you will know a good quality satin because it will be smooth and not rough, a  high quality satin dress will last much longer than a cheaper alternative. 

When you are wearing satin, ensure you accessorise well.  If it is a black satin dress then black shoes and black accessories will work well but don’t go overboard on satin!  Make sure the shoes and accessories are a different material!

A satin skirt works well with a woollen or cashmere jumper and a black coat or black jacket.
